Efficacy of 0.5% Timolol Eye Drops Combined with Pulse Dye Laser for Infantile Hemangioma

Abstract

This paper investigates the efficacy of 0.5% timolol eye drops combined with pulse dye laser for infantile hemangioma. 80 cases of infantile hemangioma treated in our hospital from March 2018 to December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into two groups. The group A (n=40) received the 0.5% timolol eye drops combined with pulse dye laser, while the group B (n=40) received the 0.5% timolol eye drops. every 4 weeks was a cycle for 3 cycles. Children were followed up for 3-12mon. SPSS18.0 software was used to analyze the data. Then the effective time, treatment numbers, clinical efficacy, and the adverse effects of the two groups were compared. The markedly effective time in group A was significantly lower than that in group B (P<0.05). The effective rate of treatment in group A was significantly higher than that in group B (90% vs 68.4%, P<0.05). The average treatment times of per person in group A was significantly lower than that in group B (P<0.05). No adverse reaction occurred in group A, while 14 cases in group B had adverse reactions, with statistic difference between groups (P<0.05). 0.5% timolol eye drops combined with pulse dye laser is an effective way to shorten the treatment time for infantile hemangioma with less adverse reaction, which can be wildly applied in clinical treatment.
